Children's Eye Care in Toronto

Ensuring Your Child's Growth Through Healthy Vision

At Bayview Vision, we understand that clear vision is essential for a child’s development and success, as 80% of learning is visual. Our dedicated pediatric team, led by Dr. Olga Savitska and Dr. Alexa Hecht, provides specialized care for children of all ages, starting as young as a few months old. We’re committed to ensuring that your child’s visual milestones are on track so they can thrive in school, sports, and daily life.

Children grow and change quickly, and so do their visual needs. Our expert team collaborates to assess and support every aspect of your child’s eye health and development. Together, we’ll equip your child with the clear, comfortable vision they need to explore, learn, and achieve their full potential.

Pediatric Eye Exam

At Bayview Vision, we believe clear and healthy vision is essential for a child’s development, learning, and overall well-being. That’s why we recommend starting comprehensive eye exams as early as 6 to 12 months of age, followed by annual eye exams to monitor and support your child’s vision at every stage of growth.

  • The first comprehensive eye exam to assess visual development, eye coordination, and potential early signs of eye conditions.

  • Annual exams to monitor eye health, focusing ability, depth perception, and early signs of conditions like amblyopia (lazy eye) or strabismus (crossed eyes).

  • Yearly eye exams to ensure visual clarity, eye teaming, and focusing skills, which are essential for reading, writing, sports, and digital screen use.

Signs Your Child May Need an Eye Exam Sooner

  • Your child may be straining to see clearly, which could indicate blurry vision or eye fatigue.

  • This may be a sign of nearsightedness (myopia) or difficulty focusing at different distances.

  • Struggling to track words on a page can indicate eye teaming issues or difficulty with eye movements.

  • Uncorrected vision problems can cause discomfort, making it harder for children to concentrate.

  • Frequent tripping, missing objects when reaching, or difficulty catching a ball may indicate vision challenges.

  • Children with vision issues may struggle in school or seem easily distracted—sometimes mistaken for ADHD.
